"Ms. Lee's kale sesame salad" is on the Woodward Academy Menu!

Estelle.jpg

Estelle Swain, chef at the Lower School cafeteria made delicious kale sesame salad for students and faculty to try...it was a big hit with students fighting to get the last leaf of this super green from the salad bar. This super green salad is in rotation at our wonderful salad bar at the LS, MS and US. Please thank Dining Services Director, Carol Cottrell for helping to keep teachers and students healthy. Also, thank Estelle the next time you go through the cafeteria line for trying innovative recipes to help our community stay healthy!

Here is the recipe:

Chopped organic kale (ribs removed), apples, halved grapes
2 cloves of minced garlicKadoya sesame oil (or fine quality sesame oil)sesame seedsOptional: 1 mashed avocado, chopped pecans or almondsSalt to taste.Enjoy and let us know how it turns out!

Fall 2012

5th Grade art student, Jonathan V. recently sold his oil paintings at the annual College Park Festival. Below are samples of his work. Our school president, Dr. Gulley was one of many art patrons who purchased one of Jonathan's works at the community festival. LS Sculpture

Every LS student designed a mail tube box expressing their personality and cultural heritage. When the sculpture is dismantled, students in Ms. Lee's art class will get a letter inside their mail tube from their classmates about how special and unique they are as a diverse gift to our school population. Art students are very excited to open their boxes!gabby.jpggildea.jpgDSC03781.JPGDSC03770.JPG
